Review: Comparison e.l.f. Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder & Cream Duo in St. Lucia - Swatches

e.l.f. Cosmetics keeps doing it BIG!! Now I have had the Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder in Blushed and Bronzed, and there is nothing better than having 1 product performing 2 functions.  I probably only used this about twice, I'm sure only because I got caught up in the hype of purchasing some other product, however I was drawn back to it recently when e.l.f. decided to introduce the Contouring Blush & Bronzing Cream in St Lucia, I immediately started re-using the powder (which by the way is renamed St Lucia as well), until the cream one arrived in my possession.  They both work great and the powder one is actually being called a dupe for NARS' Blush-Bronzer Duo, which of course is a high-end brand. The cream one goes on creamy and dries out to a powder form.  Check out the pics of the packaging and swatches of both products:

As with the Studio Line, the packaging is always sleek and of great quality.

On the left is the Blush which has a peachy color with some shimmer to it, more like a highlighter with a hint of color.  On the right is the Bronzer which is a dark brown color with very slight shimmer to it but has a more matte finish.

On the left is the Blush which has a pinky peachy color, looks really beautiful on the cheeks.  On the right is the Bronzer which has a skin tone color that looks really nice when applied. They both go on creamy and dries to a matte/powder finish, which lasts all day.  I actually think I am loving the cream more than the powder.

POWDER (with flash)
POWDER (in natural light, without flash)

CREAM (with flash)

CREAM (in natural light, without flash)

Can you see why I am loving the Cream one??  But I don't use this everyday, but when I do, it looks really beautiful. This is great for all skin types, the cream gives you extended wear and you can layer it for more intensity. The powder gives you this really nice glow to your face. You can honestly sculpt anywhere you wish to contour with the cream one.  If you want you can give it a try and see how it works for you.  I give this

POWDER - 3/5
CREAM - 4/5

You can purchase this locally in Trinidad and Tobago from online FB Beauty Store Halener Rustique
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Halener-Rustique/254990547873525?fref=ts for $25 TTD or from www.eyeslipsface.com for $3 USD.  Now there are other shades in the Powder Blush and Bronzer - St. Lucia, Turks and Caicos (burnt peach and dark brown) and Antigua (vibrant pink and dark brown), however in the Cream there is only St. Lucia thus far.

DIY Series - Healthy Nail Treatment

Do your nails break often?  Are you tired of spending lots of money on manicures, just to keep your nails strong and healthy?  Do you want a cheap "Do-It-Yourself" way of having your nails stay strong?
Then this is the blog for YOU!!!

THE EGG NAIL TREATMENT (yes Egg, egg yolk to be exact)

Egg yolk is high in Vitamin H which strengthens the nails themselves.  Egg yolk is also high in Vitamin D, E and K, which contributes to your nails growing faster.  Not forgetting to mention that it contains calcium and iron as well in it.

Here are the ingredients you need:

  • 1 egg yolk

  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil

1. Mix the egg yolk

2. Mix in the Olive Oil

3. Mix together

4. Dip your finger nails into the mix and leave for about 10 minutes

5. Take out your fingers and leave the egg yolk mix to dry for about 10 minutes

6. Rinse off

N.B. Your fingers may have a fresh scent to them, so after you have rinsed them off, squeeze some lemon juice on them and rinse.

You can do this twice per week and you are on your way to having stronger, longer, healthier nails.

Review: e.l.f. Studio Lip Exfoliator

Since September 2012, eyeslipsface.com has been introducing a host of new products and I must say the minute I saw this particular product, I said to myself "Self, you have to get this!!!!"

I purchased mine from a FB online beauty supplier by the name of Halèner Rustique and I must say I am definitely satisfied with this product.  My lips get chapped often as I work in an air-conditioned environment as well as our climate is very warm.  Now while good lip balms helps restore moisture, it won't remove all the flakiness that usually accompanies chapped lips, so when I saw this product I went bananas.
I didn't need to read or view any reviews on this product for it to be sold in my eyes.

So here is my honest review after using this product for sometime:

As with e.l.f.'s Studio Line, the packaging is very sleek and the matte black tube that the product is in  looks exactly like a lipstick tube.

The lip exfoliator itself has a thin layer of wax so the exfoliating granules was exposed to my lips almost immediately after I started to apply it to my lips.  The texture is as if you are rubbing actual sugar on your lips and the wax is very moisturizing.  The smell and taste makes you want to bite off the stick and eat it (please don't eat it lol).  This exfoliator is infused with natural ingredients such as Shea Butter, Vitamin E, Jojoba, Avocado and Grape Oils.

Dampen a cotton round and rub on your lips.
Take the Lip Exfoliator and rub in circular motions on your lips. This will relieve the lips of flakes and restore them to their smooth soft feel.
Take another cotton round, dampen it and wipe off the product.
Your lips should feel moist and soft.
Optional: I usually take my EOS Lip Balm and apply it to my lips after the Lip Exfoliator process.

Overall I give this product:

and I recommend you purchase this and try it, especially if your lips are always chapped and don't think for a minute that a man can't use it, it's for both women and men.

It can be purchased on www.eyeslipsface.com for $3. USD and locally here in Trinidad from Halèner Rustique for $30 TTD.

Short Review - Amuse 6 Color Blush Palette

Going through my blush collection I came across one of my very first blush palettes I bought - Amuse 6 Color Blush Palette and I had to bring my review on it for you guys because this palette and me had a great relationship until I got caught up in hypes of others. *shame face*

These blushes are so pigmented!! The staying power is also great.  I was quite impressed with these blushes and it made me bypass the statement:

"Good Things not Cheap. And Cheap Things not Good"

This blush is really cheap and affordable, don't go with they hype of "brand name" "high end" as there are cheap, affordable products like this blush palette and it gives you the look that those same "brand name" "high end" blushes would give.  I bought this at www.mymakeuphaven.com which is an FB online makeup provider.  You can also get it at www.cherryculture.com.  You won't regret it, trust me.  I will put this blush back to the top of my blush collection and start back using it.

I recommend this blush palette and give it:

China Glaze® Tranzitions Review and Swatches

A couple weeks ago while browsing through FB, I came across a nail polish design by www.bellezzabee.com and what amazed me is that she only used 1 bottle of nail polish to get the design.  I was desperate to purchase that polish, because it was too amazing to leave behind.  Next day I feverishly went to various Wonderful Worlds searching for these Tranzitions (with a "z") and then I finally came across them, however it only had 2 more remaining and guess what?? I took both.

China Glaze® Tranzitions new nail lacquer reacts when a clear top coat is applied changing the color from one shade to another.  They introduced this line with 6 available shades, and I always love hearing the unique nail polish names these companies come up with:

1. Split Perso-Nail-ity
2. Modify Me
3. Duplicity
4. Altered Reality
5. Metallic Metamorphosis
6. Shape Shifter

The 2 I was able to snatch up were:

Split Perso-Nail-ity

Modify Me

A Lavender Pinky shade that changes into a darker shade when a top coat is applied. This is a one-coat application.  The color isn't streaky and it dries fast also removal was very easy.

A sky blue color with a hint of shimmer changing into dark blue when a top coat is applied. This is also a one-coat as with Split Perso-nail-ity, however I find it to be a bit streaky but removal is easy.

- One bottle of nail polish to make different designs using a Top coat
- One coat is all you need
- Very opaque

- Hate the fact that I cannot top coat all my nails as it would ruin the whole idea of the nail polish uniqueness
- Because you don't top coat the entire nail, the nail polish don't last as long
- Top Coat is difficult to work with as it dries fast

To be honest I am not too fond of this collection and I don't think I will be purchasing or repurchasing any more colors.  But the idea behind the whole concept of this collection was nice.  Great Try China Glaze!! China Glaze® Tranzitions are available at Wonderful World for $33.00 TTD each.

Revlon® Colorstay Whipped™ Crème Makeup Foundation

A few months ago a trip to Pennywise Cosmetics in Port of Spain to purchase nothing beauty related, I stumbled across this foundation at the Beauty Counter, don't ask me why I went to that counter, but I just did (makeup junkie).  But am I soo happy that I did, because I found my face's new BFF and it's the REVLON® Colorstay Whipped Creme Makeup Foundation.

Now if you have been following me, I have been a lover of Maybelline FIT me! Foundation in 355 with SPF 18, but boy oh boy, since I purchased Revlon Colorstay Whipped, I cannot get over this foundation.

I must say when I first saw the contents I was skeptical of purchasing, I also was never a fan of foundation in a jar, I prefer a bottle with a pump, but when the attendant gave me a demonstration, I immediately took it.  My shade is 405 Caramel 1, it's my PERFECT SHADE!!!!! I was in Foundation Heaven.  The formula is thick and as I have described it in a couple of my vids, it's like butter.  It goes on like a second skin, and very little is needed and it will work on the entire face.  I don't use a brush or sponge to blend it in, I use my fingers (which I am not too keen on) but trust me, it blends perfectly with your fingers.  It has a matte finish and don't make your face look cakey.  It takes a couple of minutes to set, so when applied, let it air dry for about 5 minutes.before setting it with powder.  I wear mine for a maximum of approximately 12 hours, inclusive of working out at the gym and my face still looks great.

Top - without Foundation
Bottom - With Foundation

To this day, it's my go-to foundation and I will be re-purchasing this!!!

- my PERFECT shade
- It's like a second skin (looks almost naked)
- Used for minimum to maximum coverage
- Lasts really long (I have worn it for 12 hours inclusive of going to the gym and working out)
- Blends easily
- Don't transfer to objects (cell phone, clothes, fingers)

- I have to use my fingers (blecch), sponges soak up most of the product
- Not travel-friendly
- Packaging is bulky and heavy (glass)
- Costly (but it's worth it) $69.95 TTD
- no SPF

I recommend that you guys purchase this at least once, you won't regret it, especially if you find your PERFECT shade, something we all search for, for years without success.  I rate this product
